GameBall

I have swapped my Elecom Huge for the GameBall on my son's recommendation. It has solid switches and the tracking is absolutely AWESOME. Thing is, I liked the Elecom's overall size and layout better for my hand size. I don't know if my hand qualifies as large, I'm pretty sure it's not small but when I use it, my hand is forward on the body and the two buttons that are stock configured for left and right click (I've swapped them for the other buttons for that purpose) are awkward to reach. Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying out the GameBall Pro when it's released. It's a great trackball, and I'll keep using it, but it's layout is not ideal FOR ME. Your mileage may vary.

Prior to using the gameball, my main mouse for the past few years was a thumball-style mouse. That mouse started dying, so I figured I would try the gameball.

So far, so good! It took about a week to adjust from the thumball grip to something more suited to the gameball. I've ended up settling in a grip that uses my index finger and middle finger to move the ball, with the middle finger moving down when needed for the trackball.

The multitude of mouse buttons is great. I have a mouse button bound to attack-move in the couple of RTS games I play, and use the buttons for back and forward operations isn the browser and on work tools at my job.

One thing that I appreciate is the button used to adjust the mouse sensitivity. You can hold it to change the base sensitivity of the trackball, but that button can also be pressed to quickly reduce the sensitivity by a pretty significant amount, which has been helpful both at work (spreadsheets) and outside of work (pixel art).

Overall, I really like it! It works well for my specific usecases, it is comfortable in the hand, and it is a lifesaver when you don't have much space on your desk.

I love this mouse and it's super unique. I love that you can program everything right on the mouse without needing software for it. The build quality is good and it feels good to use.
Unfortunately there is one massive flaw with it, which is the lack of a physical scroll wheel. I see what they were going for with the touch sensitive pads, but the fact it, it's unreliable when playing games. There no feedback obviously, so I often times fail to scroll or over scroll when I try to use it. This is a problem in games that use the scroll wheel to do things like selecting weapons. Without a physical wheel, you're bound to make mistakes with it

The ambidextrous form factor makes in a bit uncomfortable to use, and the touch pads for scrolling are an interesting idea, but trying to avoid them while resting your hands on the trackball makes it even more uncomfortable. It’s too easy to scroll accidentally. It’s too easy to change the touchpad settings accidentally, which came as quick a shock the first time. I didn’t know the continuous mode even existed until I accidentally enabled it, and I didn’t know what was going on, just that I couldn’t scroll effectively anymore. Documentation is hard to find.
The “back” button is difficult to press.
All that said, the ball feels great, moves smoothly.
